Bring your Mailchimp landing pages to Kit

Need to recreate your Mailchimp landing pages in Kit? In this guide, we’ll share how to do this and how you can share your new Kit Landing Page.

If you’re new to our Landing Pages, you might find it helpful to check out our article on how to create a Kit Landing Page first. Otherwise, let’s dig in!

NOTE: To recreate a Mailchimp form, read our guide to recreating a Mailchimp form in Kit instead.

Create a new Kit Landing Page

Open Mailchimp in a new browser tab and navigate to the Landing Page you want to recreate in Kit. Keep this browser tab open for convenient reference.

Next, log in to Kit and click Landing Pages & Forms in the Grow tab of the top navigation. Click the + Create new button to create a new Landing Page.

On the next screen asking how you want to gather subscribers, select the Landing Page option.

Choose a template for your Landing Page. Try to pick one that resembles your Mailchimp landing page the most closely.

We’ll load your selected template into our Landing Page builder for you to customize. Don’t forget to save your work often when recreating your Mailchimp landing page in Kit. To do this, click the Publish button at the top right of the Landing Page builder.

Customize your Kit Landing Page

In this section, you’ll learn how to recreate your Mailchimp landing page’s email form, main contents, and settings.

For demo purposes, we'll use Kit's Lincoln Landing Page template to recreate this Mailchimp landing page:

Transfer your Mailchimp landing page’s contents

Copy and paste your Mailchimp landing page text to the appropriate places in your Kit Landing Page.

After that, upload your Mailchimp landing page images, and insert your video URLs into your Kit Landing Page.

(Don’t worry about the colors and fonts for now—we’ll adjust these shortly.)

Kit Landing Pages have different designs from Mailchimp’s. As a result, you may not be able to place your text and images in the exact same positions they had been on your Mailchimp landing page.

If so, consider if there’s a better place in your Kit Landing Page for displaying your content. You may also need to:

  • Edit your existing text (for a better fit in your Kit Landing Page, for example),

  • Change your images or videos, and/or

  • Add new text, images, or videos to fill out your Landing Page more.

Adjust your colors and fonts

Background color

Under the General styles settings in the right sidebar, you can customize your Landing Page’s background colors:

Text colors

To change the color of a certain text (whether it’s heading or body text), click the text to load its color picker settings in the right sidebar.

Fonts

Similarly, click the text that needs a font change, and you’ll be able to update its font and font weight in the right sidebar.

If you can’t find the exact font you used in Mailchimp, pick something similar to it—or use something new entirely.

Add content blocks

In your Kit Landing Page, you can insert content blocks like:

  • Social icons

  • A gallery

  • An Instagram feed

To insert these, click any body text (not headings) and click the + button that appears on the left to launch the content block menu. In this case, we’re going to add social icons:

After that, use the icon settings in the right sidebar to customize the colors, design, and URLs of your social icons.

Recreate your landing page’s email form

With your Landing Page’s main contents recreated, let’s focus on recreating your email form.

If you haven’t customized the look of your email form’s headings and body text, click the relevant text to load their design settings in the right sidebar.

As for customizing the form fields, click them to update their labels, font colors, font sizes, and more in the right sidebar.

NOTE: Need to add more form fields to your Kit Landing Page? Learn how here.

Additionally, you can click your subscribe button to update its button text. Then, use the button styles in the right sidebar to customize the look of your button.

Here’s the final look of our recreated Mailchimp landing page in Kit:

Recreating your landing page settings

Click Settings at the top right to load the “Landing Page Settings” screen:

Redirecting subscribers after they sign up

In the General tab of the “Landing Page Settings” screen, you can set up whether subscribers should be:

  • Shown a success message,

  • Redirected to a thank you page if you’ve created one (more on this below), or

  • Redirected to an external page.

Setting your landing page's URL

From the same “Landing Page Settings” screen, click the Domain Name tab to create a custom URL for your Landing Page.

Enabling or disabling double opt-in

In Mailchimp, double opt-in settings apply to Mailchimp audiences as a whole. However, Kit’s double opt-in settings are Landing Page-specific.

Hence, to enable or disable double opt-in for your Kit Landing Page, click the Incentive tab in the “Landing Page Settings” screen. From there, check or uncheck the “Send incentive email” option to enable or disable double opt-in respectively.

Create a thank you page

You can create a thank you page for redirecting subscribers to after they’ve subscribed through your Landing Page.

Simply click the + Add Page button at the top left of the Landing Page builder to get started:

NOTE: Each Kit Landing Page has its own thank you page. If you have multiple Landing Pages, you'll need to create thank you pages for each of them.

Use your Kit Landing Page

Once you’ve finished recreating your Mailchimp landing page in Kit, click the Share button at the top right of the Landing Page builder.

A window will pop up, giving you options to share your Landing Page:

  • On Facebook

  • On X

  • On LinkedIn

  • Via its URL

You can also embed your Landing Page in a WordPress website using our WordPress plugin.

Don’t forget to replace all your old Mailchimp landing page URLs or embeds with the same for your new Kit Landing Page!
