Access and organize your images πΌοΈ
The media gallery lets you access images you've uploaded to Kit, and images available via integrations, so you can add them to your emails, Forms, Landing Pages, and other Kit email marketing assets.
You can also filter and order your images by various criteria, manage their metadata, and favorite the ones you use often for convenient access.
The media gallery will appear when you add an image or replace an existing one.
For example, it'll appear:
When you click the + icon on the left > Image in the email editor to add an image to your email (as shown in the screenshot below)
When you click an existing image in your email in the email editor, followed by the Replace button in the right sidebar
When you click the + icon on the left in the Form builder > Image to add an image to your Form
The media gallery has various tabs corresponding to different image sources. Let's check out how they work:
NOTE: For simplicity, we'll talk about using the media gallery to add images to an email from now on. But the media gallery works the same way if you're adding an image to a Form, Landing Page, or anywhere else that supports images.
Uploads
Upload images from your device and access your previously uploaded images here.
To upload an image, drag and drop it into the upload box or click Choose an image to upload. Only JPG, PNG, GIF, and WebP files smaller than 25 MB are accepted.
NOTE: For better compatibility with email clients, we'll convert your uploaded WebP files to JPG files. This also means that animated WebP files will become static images showing just the first frame of the animation.
Your uploaded images will appear under the upload box. Click any image to add it to your email.
Use the search bar to search your uploaded images by their metadata, and the settings on the right to filter and order the results.
For example, you can filter your images by relevance or order them by upload date. The relevance filter will appear only after you start typing into the search bar.
Favorites
The images you've favorited will appear here, ordered by those most recently favorited. This is useful for conveniently accessing images you use often.
Click any favorited image to add it to your email.
Use the search bar to search your favorited images by their metadata.
Recently used
Images from all media gallery sources will appear here, with those you've used most recently appearing first.
Use the search bar to search your recently-used images by their metadata, and the settings on the right to order the results.
Click any image to add it to your email.
Unsplash
Our Unsplash integration lets you grab beautiful (and free!) stock images from the Unsplash website without leaving Kit.
Use the search bar to search for images, and the settings on the right to filter and order the results.
For example, you can filter for only images with landscape orientation or order the images by relevance. The image orientation filter will appear only after you start typing into the search bar.
Click any image to add it to your email.
Our Instagram integration syncs your Instagram images to your Kit account so you can use them in your emails!
Only your images will be synced to Kit. Other media, like your videos and Reels, will not.
Click Log in with Instagram to integrate with Instagram. You'll see an Instagram window pop up, asking you to log in to your Instagram account. It will then ask you to authorize the connection with Kit.
Once you allow access, images you've posted to your Instagram account will appear. Click any image to add it to your email!
Disconnecting the integration
Disconnect the Instagram integration to remove your Instagram images from the media gallery.
To do this, go to your Instagram account settings > Website permissions > Apps and websites.
You'll see Kit under the Active tab. Hit the Remove button to disconnect Kit from your Instagram account.
Managing your images
Editing your image metadata
The media gallery lets you edit the metadata of images in the Uploads, Favorites, and Recently used tabs in one place. This metadata is the image's:
Title: This is set to the image's file name by default
Alt text: This is text that appears if the image can't load. It also helps people using screen readers understand your image.
Default caption: The image's caption
Hover your cursor over the image whose metadata you want to edit and click the pencil icon. You'll see this screen for editing the image's metadata:
Make your changes, and then click Save to save them.
Favoriting your images
You can favorite images from any tab (e.g., Uploads or Unsplash) to add them to the media gallery's Favorites tab for convenient access.
To favorite an image, hover your cursor over it and click the heart icon at the top left.
To unfavorite a favorited image, hover your cursor over it and click the red heart icon at the top left.
Deleting your images
You can delete images from the Uploads, Favorites, and Recently used tabs to remove them from your media gallery.
Hover your cursor over the image you want to delete and click the trash can icon at the top right. ποΈ
Then, click Delete in the window that pops up to confirm.
