Apps and integrations overview

Everything you need to know to install apps and integrations in Kit.

Updated over 2 weeks ago

Kit is designed to work well with all your favorite third-party tools and extend its functionality with additional apps you install.

What are apps?

Apps are external applications you can install to extend the functionality of what you do with Kit.

For example, you can install an app like KitBoard to get a kanban-style view of your sales pipeline. KitBoard automatically pulls in subscribers with Tags you set in Kit, so you know who to reach out to next.

Apps are built by a community of developers. Learn more about building apps for Kit.

How to install an app

To install an app, go to the Kit App Store by clicking Apps under the Automate tab in the navigation.

Use the app categories and filters to narrow your search. Once you've identified an app you want to install, click its Install button.

NOTE: Some apps require a paid plan. If you're on the Newsletter plan, their installation buttons will say "Upgrade to install" instead, and you'll need to upgrade to a paid plan before you can install the apps.

One of two authentication flows will trigger:

1. API authorization

You'll see a confirmation screen asking for permission to connect the app with your Kit account. Once you click Grant access to XX, you can use the app immediately.

2. Redirect to third-party app

You'll be redirected to the third-party app's website or authentication flow, where you'll log in and grant the app access to your data.

Once you've granted access, you can use the app immediately.

Updating an app

When app developers release new versions of their apps, you may need to manually update their apps in Kit to access the latest features.

A new manual app update is available when the app displays an Update button and an update icon in the Kit App Store:

Apps with new manual updates will also be displayed at the top of the Kit App Store's Manage page.

Click the app's Update button to start the updating process.

How to uninstall an app

To uninstall an app, go to the Kit App Store or the app's details page, and then click Uninstall.

How to troubleshoot an app

We don't provide support for third-party apps. If you need support for any of your installed apps, refer to the knowledgebase article listed on their app details page or reach out to their support directly.

What are integrations?

Integrations are software connections that help you sync data between Kit and a third-party tool.

For example, you can integrate with Podia to allow any new Podia course customers who aren't on your list to be added and tagged in Kit. Their subscriber information is also automatically synced over for you to use.
