Understand what happens when you sync your Mighty Network member data to Kit.

Sync and organize your Mighty Network member data in Kit

When you install Kit's Mighty Networks app, your Mighty Network will offer the option of syncing your member data to Kit:

Toggle the switch to the On position to sync your members. Click the Sync Members to Kit button in the window that pops up to confirm you want to proceed with the sync.

Once you activate the sync, it will continuously sync members as long as:

  • The app is enabled, and

  • You don't turn off the sync.

As a result, your Mighty Network member data in Kit will automatically update as and when you gain or lose members in your Mighty Network, or when they update their account information in your Mighty Network.

Here's more info on how this works.

What happens when your Mighty Network member data is synced to Kit?

Syncing of first names and email addresses

When you enable the sync, every member of your Mighty Network—who has not opted out of email marketing—will be synced with your Kit subscriber list.

If a member's email address matches that of a subscriber in Kit, the Kit subscriber's first name will be updated to match that of the member in your Mighty Network.

Let's say you have a member in your Mighty Network whose first name is Mel and email address is [email protected]. You also have an existing Kit subscriber with the email address [email protected] and first name Melissa.

So, here's how that subscriber's data will be updated in Kit:

Kit subscriber data before syncing your Mighty Network

Kit subscriber data after syncing your Mighty Network

Email address: [email protected]

Email address: [email protected]

First name: Melissa

First name: Mel

There's no change in the subscriber's email address, but their first name has been updated from "Melissa" to "Mel."

On the other hand, if the email address for a member of your Mighty Network isn't already on your Kit subscriber list, that member will be added as a new Kit subscriber.

Using the same example from above, if you don't already have a Kit subscriber with the email address [email protected], a new Kit subscriber will be added with this data after the sync:

NOTE: We are working to sync other member data to Kit in the future.

Adding of Tags

All Mighty Networks members whose data has been synced to Kit will be tagged with "Mighty Networks Integration" in Kit.

Members will also be tagged with their respective Mighty Network names.

Let's say you have two Mighty Networks called "Career Path Connect" and "Modern Creator" respectively.

When you connect your "Career Path Connect" Mighty Network to Kit, we'll tag all members of this Mighty Network with "Mighty Networks Integration" and "Career Path Connect."

If you disconnect this Mighty Network and then connect your "Modern Creator" one, we'll tag all your "Modern Creator" members with "Mighty Networks Integration" and "Modern Creator."

All these Tags will be listed on the Subscribers page in Kit, and you can click them to view a list of Kit subscribers tagged with them.

For example, click the "Mighty Networks Integration" Tag to view a list of members of all your Mighty Networks whose data has been synced to Kit (regardless of whether they belong to the "Career Path Connect" or "Modern Creator" Mighty Network).

Alternatively, click the "Modern Creator" Tag to view a list of all members of just the "Modern Creator" Mighty Network.

NOTE: The total number of subscribers tagged with their respective Mighty Network names may be more than the total number of subscribers tagged with "Mighty Network Integration" if some subscribers are members of more than one Mighty Network.

You can also use these Tags to tailor your email interactions with members of your Mighty Network.

To send an email to all members of your Mighty Networks, for instance, set your email recipients as all Kit subscribers tagged with "Mighty Networks Integration."

Syncing of Mighty Tags

When you sync member data, you also have the option of syncing Mighty Tags.

These are Tags in Mighty Network for internally segmenting your members. When you sync Mighty Tags to Kit, Tags will be created in Kit and named in this way:

"[Network Name] [Tag Name]"

For example, if your Mighty Network is called "Modern Creator" and your Mighty Tag is named "VIPs," a Tag named "Modern Creator VIPs" will be created in Kit.

The newly created Kit Tags will be added to the members who have the corresponding Mighty Tags in your Mighty Network. You can then use Kit to email segments of members who have these Kit Tags.

Toggle the Sync Mighty Tags switch to the On position to sync your Mighty Tags. From now on, new Mighty Tags you create will be automatically synced to Kit.

If you want to modify your synced Kit Tags, change their corresponding Mighty Tags instead. This is because any changes you make to your synced Kit Tags, like edits or deletions, will be overwritten by information from your Mighty Network during the next sync.

Deleting and editing Mighty Tags

If you delete a Tag in your Mighty Network, its corresponding Tag in Kit will be renamed to "[Network Name - Deleted] [Tag Name]." The Kit Tag will also be removed from the members in Kit who had it.

You'll need to log in to Kit to take further actions, like removing the untagged members from your email list or deleting the Kit Tag.

Deleted or modified Tags in Kit will reappear or revert if they still exist in your Mighty Network. Member subscriptions or assignments to the Tag will also be restored based on your Mighty Network setup.

Your Kit list size may increase

After the sync, your Kit subscriber list size may increase based on the number of new subscribers synced to Kit. The increase will also trigger any automatic pricing tier upgrades needed to accommodate your larger list.

Let's say you are on the Creator plan for up to 1,000 subscribers and originally have 700 Kit subscribers. You sync 500 members in your Mighty Network to your Kit account.

If 400 of these members are already Kit subscribers, your Kit subscriber list will grow to 700 + (500 − 400) = 800 subscribers after the sync.

Your current pricing tier can accommodate all 800 subscribers, so it won't change.

On the other hand, if none of these 500 members are already Kit subscribers, your Kit subscriber list will have 700 + 500 = 1,200 subscribers after the sync.

Your current pricing tier can accommodate only 1,000 subscribers, so we'll automatically upgrade you to the next pricing tier.

The sync is continuous

As long as you've opted to sync your member data and don't disconnect Kit from your Mighty Network, any subsequent changes to accounts for members of your Mighty Network will automatically be synced to Kit.

This includes:

  • The addition of new subscribers to Kit when new members join your Mighty Network

  • The updating of Kit subscriber data when a member of your Mighty Network updates their account information

  • The syncing of changes to your Kit Tags based on changes to their corresponding Mighty Tags

NOTE: It may take a couple of minutes for the changes in your Mighty Network to be reflected in Kit.

Unsubscribing members of your Mighty Network from Kit

As of December 4, 2023, members of your Mighty Network will remain subscribed to your Kit email list but be automatically removed from the "Mighty Networks Integration" Tag if one of these events happens:

  • You delete them from your Mighty Network

  • The member leaves your Mighty Network

  • The member is banned

  • The member unsubscribes from your Mighty Network's marketing emails
