How to Add a Form to Medium

Combining Medium and Kit to grow your audience.

Updated this week

Medium is one of the best ways to share your ideas online with a built-in audience of people searching for great content.

Most providers, however, are stuck with simply linking out to their Form page with a standard link.

Kit still links out to the Form or Landing Page, but the difference is what we can achieve on the Medium end, that will look way better than a standard link!

So fancy.

What do you think?

Now, the above opt-in looks better than a jumbled link, right? Here's the best way to make it happen:

  1. Go into your Form.

  2. Click Publish at the top right.

  3. You'll be shown to a popup with several embed options.

  4. Choose Share → Copy to select your link.

  1. Go into your Landing Page.

  2. Click Publish at the top right.

3. A menu will open with a few sharing options.

  4. Click on the papers icon to copy your link to the clipboard.

  5. Use this link you've copied and put it in paces where you want to point potential new Subscribers.

Add Your Form to Medium

Here's the trick. Instead of pasting the link to the page as you would normally, click on the Medium code embed feature and paste there.

Now it will show up as a widget style because of the backend javascript! (When Subscribers click, it will still go to the Form or Landing Page off-site, because Medium doesn't allow direct Form embeds.)

Extra Tips

You may want to change the text on your Form "widget" to keep it simple and clear. (You might want to change the title of the Form in Kit to help with this too.)

This is a great next-level way to embed a portion of the Form instead of sharing a general link.

Now, go teach everything you know.
