How to add preview text to your emails

Easily add preview text to your emails with one simple feature. No code necessary!

Connect with your readers even before they open your email.

We know that subject lines are important for catching your subscribers' eye and getting your emails opened—but they're not the only factor.

Preview text, or pre-header text, is a great opportunity to get your subscribers' attention in addition to your subject line!

Email clients will often show a snippet of the first part of the email content as a preview next to its subject line — here's what that looks like in Gmail, for example:

That may not be particularly attention-grabbing on its own, so you might want to override what gets displayed there with some teaser text or an enticing call-to-action.

Luckily, it's easy to customize the preview text for both your Broadcasts and Sequences. Let’s walk through how to do this for each type of email:

How to customize your Broadcast’s preview text

In the Broadcast editor, click the Publish tab at the top right of the page:

You'll be directed to the Publish page. Click Advanced options under the Send email section.

A Preview Text field will appear for you to add your custom preview text:

How to customize your Sequence’s preview text

In the Sequence editor, click the Edit preview text button in the right-hand corner:

Once you've done so, you'll be able to add up to 150 characters of text in the dropdown box:
