Store helpful reminders on your Broadcast's contents
When creating a Broadcast, you can optionally add an internal note or description to give yourself more context on what your Broadcast is about.
Only you can see the internal note—it will not be shown to your subscribers.
You'll see your internal notes under your Broadcasts' subject lines on the Broadcasts page:
And they'll appear in the Internal note section in the Overview page of each Broadcast's reports, too.
NOTE: The Broadcasts page will not display internal notes for A/B-tested emails. You can still see these emails' internal notes from their Overview report.
The internal note is also indexed by the Broadcasts page's search feature, so you can use it to find a Broadcast you're looking for!
Adding internal notes to your Broadcast draft
To add an internal note to your Broadcast, write your Broadcast as usual. After that, navigate to the Publish page in the Broadcast editor.
Enable the Send email option, then scroll down and click Advanced options. It'll expand to reveal a field for filling out an internal note:
We'll save your internal note automatically as you set up the rest of your Broadcast's send and publish settings. 😀
Updating internal notes after sending your Broadcast
To add or edit your Broadcast's internal notes after it's been sent, go to the main Broadcasts page.
Click either the:
Subject line of the Broadcast for which you want to add an internal note, or the
View button next to that Broadcast.
The Broadcast's Overview report will load. Click the pencil icon at the Internal note section on the right to add an internal note or edit an existing one:
Click Save to save your new (or updated) internal note.
How to use internal notes
As their name suggests, internal notes are for internal use only—purely for your own reference.
Here is some information you might find useful to save as an internal note to your Broadcast:
Audience
Who was the Broadcast sent to? Depending on how you filtered your recipients, your internal note could contain details on your recipients' locations or the Tags/Segments they have.
Call to action
What action did you encourage your subscribers to take when reading your Broadcast? This could be anything from checking out your new blog post to buying a product that's on sale.
Launch
Was this Broadcast part of a launch campaign? If so, you can keep track of that as an internal note for easy reference and searchability.
Internal notes vs. preview text
While subscribers can't view internal notes, they can view preview text you've added to your Broadcasts.
The preview text will appear after the subject line when your Broadcast lands in a subscriber's inbox. It's great for enticing subscribers to open and read your Broadcasts!
