In addition to managing up to 10,000 subscribers on the Newsletter Plan, you can build automations to grow and nurture your list.
On the Newsletter Plan, you can create one Email Sequence and one basic Visual Automation. Let's dive into how you can use these features to help you save time and grow your list.
Email Sequences: Automated emails
What are Email Sequences?
Email Sequences are a set or a series of automated emails. Within an Email Sequence, you'll find:
Emails: There is no limit to how many emails you can have within an Email Sequence. It can be one email or dozens—the number depends on the content you want to deliver.
Order of emails: Email Sequences are triggered in order. First, email 1 is sent, followed by email 2. No emails are skipped, and every subscriber receives them in the same order.
Schedule: Emails are automatically triggered based on a send schedule.
For example, you can set it so that no emails in the Email Sequence are sent over the weekend.
You can also set the time delay between each email.
So, when you add a subscriber to an Email Sequence, they'll receive all of the Sequence's emails in order, starting from the first email.
Email Sequences differ from Broadcasts, which are one-off, non-automated emails you send at a specific date and time.
How many Email Sequences do I have?
On the Newsletter Plan, you can create up to one Email Sequence. We highly recommend creating either of these Email Sequences to get started:
Welcome series: This is an Email Sequence for welcoming subscribers who have just joined your list. This is a great opportunity to send them a few emails to introduce yourself and gather information about them that'll help you understand your audience and keep your subscribers engaged.
Evergreen newsletter: If you already have content from your blog, YouTube channel, or social media accounts, you can create an evergreen newsletter to repurpose your past content. Doing this will not only help you save time, but also relieve the pressure of creating new content every day.
Here's an example of a short evergreen newsletter Email Sequence (with a welcome email at the start):
How do I add or remove subscribers from my Email Sequence?
You can add and remove subscribers from an Email Sequence through the Subscribers page in the navigation. Then, follow these steps:
Select the subscriber(s) you want to add to your Email Sequence
Click the three vertical dots (⋮) in the Bulk Actions menu that appears
Select Add to Sequence
A modal will pop up for you to select the Email Sequence to add your subscribers to
Click Save
Your subscribers will start to receive the Sequence's emails in order
Similarly, to remove subscribers from an Email Sequence, follow the same steps, but choose Remove from Sequence from the three vertical dots menu instead.
Can I trigger my Email Sequence automatically?
You can, by creating a basic Visual Automation that automatically adds subscribers to your Email Sequence based on a specific entry point. This means you won't have to manually add subscribers to your Email Sequence each time.
Basic Visual Automations: Action-based funnel
What is a basic Visual Automation?
A Visual Automation is a series of steps that automatically triggers for subscribers who meet specific criteria.
A basic Visual Automation is one that has access to action-based steps only and can trigger only one Email Sequence.
What are the triggers/steps in a basic Visual Automation?
There are entry nodes, which are how subscribers will automatically enter the automation.
Here are the different types of entry nodes:
When a subscriber joins a Form
When a subscriber is added to a Tag
When a subscriber's custom field changes
When a subscriber purchases a product
There are also action-based steps, which are steps where a specific action happens to the subscriber.
Here are the different types of action-based steps:
Add subscriber to an Email Sequence
Add a Tag to a subscriber
Remove a Tag from a subscriber
Set a custom field for a subscriber
Delay a subscriber from moving forward in the automation
What basic Visual Automations can I create?
We recommend creating a basic Visual Automation to automatically send an Email Sequence to your subscribers. Either of these automations will help you save time:
Welcome Automation: The steps in this automation include:
Joins any Form
Add subscriber to your Welcome Email Sequence
Tag the subscriber as "Nurtured"
Newsletter Automation
Joins any Form
Delay 1 day
Tag the subscriber as "Newsletter subscriber"
Add subscriber to your Newsletter Email Sequence
Here's how the basic newsletter automation could look:
