Getting started with the Kit for MemberMouse plugin
The Kit for MemberMouse plugin connects your MemberMouse membership site to your Kit account. Once connected, it automatically subscribes and tags members in Kit based on the membership levels they join, the products they buy, and the bundles they're assigned—so the right people always receive the right automated emails.
Installing the Kit for MemberMouse is simple and takes just a few minutes. So, let's get you set up.
NOTE: We've done our best to ensure the steps below work for most people. But since WordPress is highly customizable, your installation process may not look exactly as shown in our screenshots. Reach out to our support team if you have questions.
Before you start
To use the Kit for MemberMouse plugin, you'll need:
A Kit account. Creating an account is free for your first 10,000 subscribers.
The MemberMouse plugin installed and activated on your WordPress website.
At least one membership level, product, or bundle configured in MemberMouse. The Kit for MemberMouse plugin reads these from MemberMouse so you can assign a Kit Tag to each. If none exist yet, add them in MemberMouse first.
How to install the Kit for MemberMouse plugin
1. Add the Kit for MemberMouse plugin
From your WordPress admin's left sidebar, go to Plugins > Add Plugin.
Search for "Kit MemberMouse" in the search bar at the top right of the page, and then look for the plugin called "Kit (formerly ConvertKit) for MemberMouse."
Click Install Now to install the plugin.
2. Activate the plugin
When the plugin installation is complete, the Install Now button will be replaced with an Activate button. Click Activate to activate the Kit for MemberMouse plugin.
Connect your Kit account
1. Open the plugin settings
From your WordPress admin's left sidebar, go to Settings > Kit MemberMouse.
2. Click Connect
On the settings screen, click the Connect button to connect your Kit account with your WordPress website.
When you click Connect, you'll be directed to the Kit login page to log in to your account (or create a Kit account if you don't have one).
3. Grant access
After logging in to your Kit account, you'll see a message: "MemberMouse is requesting access to your account."
Click Grant access to MemberMouse to proceed.
NOTE: If you're a team member of multiple Kit accounts, use the dropdown menu to select the account you want to connect to MemberMouse.
Once you grant access, you'll be returned to the Kit MemberMouse settings screen in WordPress. Your connected account name is shown under Account Name, and a Disconnect button lets you disconnect your Kit account from MemberMouse anytime.
Configuring the plugin
With your account connected, the settings screen displays the configuration sections below. After making any changes, scroll to the bottom of the page and click Save Settings.
Custom Fields
The Kit for MemberMouse plugin automatically sends each member's first name and email address to Kit when they're subscribed.
If you'd also like to store members' last names, use the Send Last Name dropdown to select the Kit custom field where the last name should be stored. Leave it set to (None) if you don't want to send last names.
Tagging: Membership Levels
This section lists every membership level in your MemberMouse account. For each level, you can assign a Kit Tag to apply when a member joins, and optionally apply or remove a Tag when their membership is canceled.
Apply tag on add: Choose the Kit Tag to assign when a member joins this membership level. The member is subscribed to Kit (if they aren't already) and tagged.
Apply / remove tag on cancel: Choose what happens when a member's access to this level is canceled. Pick a Tag under Assign Tag to add a Tag on cancellation, or pick one under Remove Tag (shown as Tag name (Remove)) to remove a Tag on cancellation.
Set either dropdown to (None) to take no action.
NOTE: If you see "No membership levels exist in MemberMouse," add a membership level in MemberMouse first, then reload this settings screen.
Tagging: Products
This section lists every product in your MemberMouse account. For each product, use the Apply tag on add dropdown to choose the Kit Tag to assign when a member purchases that product.
Set the dropdown to (None) to take no action for a product.
NOTE: If you see "No products exist in MemberMouse," add a product in MemberMouse first, then reload this settings screen.
Tagging: Bundles
This section lists every bundle in your MemberMouse account. For each bundle, you can assign a Kit Tag to apply when the bundle is added to a member, and optionally apply or remove a Tag when the bundle is canceled.
Apply tag on add: Choose the Kit Tag to assign when this bundle is added to a member.
Apply / remove tag on cancel: Choose what happens when this bundle is removed from a member. Pick a Tag under Assign Tag to add a Tag, or pick one under Remove Tag (shown as Tag name (Remove)) to remove a Tag.
Set either dropdown to (None) to take no action.
NOTE: If you see "No bundles exist in MemberMouse," add a bundle in MemberMouse first, then reload this settings screen.
Save your settings
When you've finished mapping your custom fields and Tags, click Save Settings at the bottom of the page.
That's it! From now on, members are automatically subscribed and tagged in Kit based on the membership levels, products, and bundles you've mapped—ready to trigger the right sequences and automations in your account.
Enabling the debug log
The General section's Debug setting logs the plugin's requests to a file and outputs messages to your browser console.
If you contact support about an issue, our team may ask you to enable Debug so they can troubleshoot. Otherwise, since logging may slow down your website, we suggest leaving the Debug setting unchecked.
