Podia integration

Steps for integrating Podia with ConvertKit.

Updated over a week ago

Connect your Podia account to ConvertKit

By integrating Podia with ConvertKit, you can automatically sync Podia users to your ConvertKit account when they subscribe to your Podia email forms, buy your products, or join your Podia community.

These users will also be automatically added to a ConvertKit Tag to help you keep track of them.

You'll need to have at least one Tag in your ConvertKit account for the integration to work. If you don't, use this guide to create a Tag first.

After that, follow these steps:

1. Add your ConvertKit API Key and API Secret to Podia

Go to the Developer settings in your ConvertKit account and under V3 API Key, copy your API Key and API Secret.

Then, log in to your Podia account in a separate browser tab. Click your account icon at the top right of the dashboard > Settings.

Then, go to the Integrations tab.

On the Integrations page, inactive integrations will have a gray toggle:

Click the toggle to turn the ConvertKit integration on. Once you do, you'll be shown a panel to add your API Key and Secret Key (which is another name for your API Secret):

Paste in the API Key and API Secret you copied earlier. Click Connect, and you're ready for the next steps!

NOTE: If you have already connected your ConvertKit account to a different Podia account, you will need to create a new ConvertKit account for integrating with your current Podia account. This is because only one Podia account can be connected to a ConvertKit account at a time.

2. Add ConvertKit Tags to Podia email forms

This step helps you add ConvertKit Tags to users who subscribe via your Podia email forms.

In Podia, click your account icon at the top right of the dashboard > Settings. Then, select the Email tab.

Click Edit next to the Email form integrations setting (it should say "ConvertKit").

A dropdown menu will appear. Use it to select the Tag to which subscribers to any Podia email form will be added—adding different Tags to users based on the Podia email form they subscribed to currently isn't possible.

Then, click Save.

3. Add ConvertKit Tags to Podia products

Now, set up the integration to add ConvertKit Tags to users who buy your Podia products.

In Podia, select Products in the top navigation > All products. Click the Edit button for the product whose buyers you want to add a ConvertKit Tag to.

Then, click the Details tab for that product.

Scroll down the Details page until you reach the Integrations section. Use the dropdown menu next to the ConvertKit option to select the appropriate Tag:

Your changes will be saved automatically.

4. Add ConvertKit Tags to Podia community plans

Finally, let's add ConvertKit Tags to users who sign up for your Podia community plans. These users will need to have finished creating their accounts with your community (i.e., finish setting up their password) to be synced to ConvertKit.

From your Podia dashboard, navigate to Community > Home in the top navigation.

Select Settings in the left sidebar after that. Then, scroll down to the Plans section and click the Edit button for the plan you want to edit.

Scroll down until you reach the Integrations section. Then, use the dropdown menu under the ConvertKit option to select the Tag that the plan's users should be added to:

Click Save changes.

You're all set!

Now, when people interact with your Podia offerings, they will also appear in your ConvertKit account, subscribed to the relevant Tags you selected.

NOTE: The integration does not work retroactively for activity that happened before you integrated your Podia account with ConvertKit.

For example, users who bought your Podia products before you set up the integration will not be synced to your ConvertKit account or have a ConvertKit Tag added to them.

You can also set up Visual Automations in ConvertKit to send these subscribers automated email sequences after they've been added to these Tags.
