If you no longer need your Kit account, you can request to delete it.
Once we receive your request, we'll delete your account within 24 to 48 hours.
How to request account deletion
First, export any account data, like your subscriber list and Subscribers page graph data, you want to keep.
Next, click your account name at the top right of the navigation, followed by Settings. Then, go to Account & Billing from the left sidebar.
Scroll down to the Account Deletion section and click Delete my Kit account.
Type "DELETE ACCOUNT" (without the quotes) in the window that pops up to confirm, followed by Continue.
Enter your password. Finally, click Delete my account.
Once you've clicked Delete my account, you'll be logged out of your account and get an email confirming the deletion request.
We'll then delete your Kit account within 24 to 48 hours.
FAQs
I see this message: "The account can only be deleted by the account owner"
Only the owner of the Kit account—i.e., the person whose email address was used to create the account—can delete it.
So, if you see a message that "The account can only be deleted by the account owner," you'll need to ask the account's owner to delete the account.
What happens when I request to delete my Kit account?
When you request to delete your Kit account:
You'll be logged out of your account and cannot log back in. This includes logging in to access other Kit accounts you're a team member of.
We'll delete your Kit account within 24 to 48 hours.
What happens when my Kit account is deleted?
When your Kit account is deleted:
All data in the account will be permanently deleted. Export any data you need from your account before deleting it.
Accounts on other platforms that may have been created while you used your Kit account will not be deleted. These accounts include the Kit-managed Stripe Express account for digital product payments and SparkLoop for Recommendations.
Can team members delete my Kit account?
Team members, regardless of their access permissions, cannot delete a Kit account. Only the owner of the Kit account—i.e., the person whose email address was used to create the account—can delete it.
If you aren't the account owner, the account deletion feature will be disabled, and you'll see this message:
Can I retrieve data from my deleted account?
If fewer than 48 hours have passed since your account deletion request, we may be able to cancel the deletion so you can retrieve your account's data. Contact support as soon as possible to start the cancellation process.
If the 48-hour window has passed, the account will have been deleted, and its data cannot be retrieved. Export any data you need from your account before deleting it.
Can I request a refund?
Please contact support with your refund request before deleting your account. This helps us process your refund request before your account data is deleted.
How can I delete an expired trial account?
To delete an expired Kit trial account, you'll need to either:
Reinstate the account yourself (which might involve subscribing to a paid plan), or
Contact support to reinstate your account on a free plan.
Then, go through the account deletion steps above.
Can I restore my deleted account?
We delete Kit accounts within 24 to 48 hours of receiving a deletion request.
If you change your mind about deleting your account during this time, contact support as soon as possible, and we may be able to cancel the deletion.
If the 48-hour window has passed, the account will have been deleted and cannot be restored. You may create a new Kit account if you need to.
Can I create a new account with the same email address?
Yes, you may create a new Kit account using an email address associated with a deleted Kit account once we've deleted the account. We delete accounts within 24 to 48 hours of receiving a deletion request.
