Subscriber Signals: getting started

See who's on your list, pitch sponsors with real data and find high-value subscribers worth partnering with.

Subscriber Signals is Kit’s subscriber intelligence product. It enriches your subscriber list with professional and social context (like role, company, location, and public social presence when available) and pairs it with Kit engagement data—so you can quickly spot influential or high-intent subscribers, build smarter segments, and take action (like tagging and targeted outreach) without doing manual research.

  • Included in the Creator Pro plan at no extra cost.

  • Built right into Kit: subscriber profiles, your Home and Demographics dashboards, recap emails and your AI tools.

  • Your subscribers don't share anything new with Kit, and we never sell their data.

Getting started

Subscriber Signals is available on a fully paid Creator Pro plan.

NOTE: Signals is not included in a free trial. If you're on a trial, you can end it early and start your paid Pro plan from the Subscriber Signals page to turn Signals on right away.

Turn on Subscriber Signals

  1. Click Turn on Signals.

  2. Review what to expect, then confirm.

You'll be placed in the Signals queue, and then we'll start enriching your list automatically. This typically takes 2–3 business days. You can come back and check progress anytime on the Subscriber Signals page.

Once your list is fully synced, we'll send you a welcome email. After that, new subscribers will be enriched automatically as they join.

NOTE: Kit will only enrich subscribers who are active. This means subscribers who unsubscribed before you turned on Signals won't have any Signals data. Subscribers who are active today keep their data if they unsubscribe later, which will help you see what kinds of people tend to drift away.

Enrichment rates vary from audience to audience, but on average you can expect around 25% of your list to be get Signals data. Some signals are harder to find than others, so coverage won't be even across every signals data point. Charts on the Demographics dashboard tell you how many subscribers each one is based on, so you know how big a sample you're looking at.

Where you'll see Subscriber Signals

  • Your own AI agent. When you connect Claude, ChatGPT or another AI tool to Kit with AI Connectors, you can have it answer questions about your list in plain language or set up automated workflows based on Signals data.

  • Subscriber profiles. Open any subscriber to see their job title, company, location, social profiles, social reach and demographics.

  • Demographics dashboard. Go to Subscribers → Demographics for a picture of your whole audience: gender, age, location, household income, education, job titles and social reach.

  • Home dashboard. The "New subscribers to watch" widget highlights notable people who joined in the last 7 days.

  • Recap emails. "Your week with Kit" emails have a "New subscribers to watch" section, so notable new people come straight to your inbox.

  • Standalone Signals app. Search and filter your enriched subscribers by job title, bio keywords, engagement and more in the standalone Signals app. You can also open it from the Subscriber Signals page by clicking “Go to Signals”.

Using Subscriber Signals

Signals helps you win sponsors, spot leads and subscribers worth partnering with, and so much more.

Ask your AI agent about your audience

The most powerful and flexible way to use Signals is through your AI agent.

Once you've connected Kit to Claude, ChatGPT or another AI tool, ask plain-English questions about your audience and act on the answers in the same conversation. You can even automate workflows based on them. For example:

  • "Summarize my audience for a sponsor pitch: age, household income, top locations and most common job titles."

  • "Which founders and executives joined my list this month? Draft a short personal welcome note for each."

  • "Find subscribers with more than 10k followers who clicked one of my last three emails. Then suggest ways for me to reach out to them to partner."

  • "Tag subscribers earning $100k+ who opened my last launch email as 'VIP offer'."

  • “Tag any new subscribers who have more than 10k followers and are an author, founder or executive”.

To make it easier to get started, look for Ask your AI agent on the subscribers list, Demographics dashboard, the Home dashboard widget and subscriber profiles for ready-made prompts.

NOTE: To use Signals data in your AI tool, you need a fully paid Creator Pro plan with Subscriber Signals turned on, and your AI tool connected to Kit through AI Connectors (Kit's MCP).

Pitch sponsors with real audience data

Sponsors want to know who they're reaching. The Demographics dashboard gives you audience size, top locations, age, household income and job titles in one place.

  1. Go to Subscribers → Demographics.

  2. Use the filters to focus on, say, confirmed subscribers or a single tag.

  3. Download as a PDF from the top right and attach it to your pitch or media kit.

  4. You can also have your AI build a custom report (for example, you can ask it to include engagement data).

The dashboard shows aggregate patterns only, so a sponsor sees who your readers are without seeing any individual subscriber.

Spot high-value subscribers as they join

The New subscribers to watch widget and your recap email surface people like founders and executives, influential creators and highly engaged readers. Click Adjust preferences on the widget to choose which groups you care about.

Open a subscriber's profile to see why they stand out, then send a personal note, an early look or an invitation to collaborate.

Find collaborators and affiliates on your list

Combining social reach with engagement answers questions neither can on its own:

  • High reach, high engagement: the people most likely to share your work. They're your best affiliates, podcast hosts and collaborators, and it's a warm intro, not a cold pitch.

  • High reach, low engagement: people with an audience who've drifted. A re-engagement sequence has more upside here than across your whole cold list.

The quickest way to find them is to ask your AI tool, for example: "Which of my subscribers have more than 10k followers and clicked an email in the last 30 days?".

You can also search, filter and tag matching subscribers by going to the standalone Signals app.

Send the right offer to the right people

Ask your AI tool to find a group, like "high earners in New York who open most of my emails", then ask it to tag them. In Kit, use that tag the way you'd use any other: as a Broadcast filter, inside a Segment, or to start a Sequence or Visual Automation.

Tagging is a snapshot of who matched at that moment. Subscribers who match later won't be tagged automatically, so ask again when you want the group to be current.

FAQ

What kind of information will I see?
You'll see demographic information like age, homeownership, income levels, and more. You'll also see your subscribers' social reach, social profiles, as well as purchase and engagement data from Kit.

Why doesn't a subscriber have Signals data?
We couldn't find a confident match or they weren't active when your list was enriched.

Is Signals data updated over time?
Each subscriber is enriched once. New subscribers are enriched as they join.

Where does this data come from?
Subscriber Signals works with established third-party data providers to match subscriber information to professional, social, and demographic data. Note demographics data comes from US postal records, so it can lean toward older subscribers and homeowners.

Are you selling my subscribers' data?
No. Your subscribers don't share anything new with Kit, and we never sell their data.

Can I use Signals under GDPR?
You're the controller of your subscriber data, and Kit processes it on your behalf under our DPA. We can't give legal advice, so check your privacy notice and lawful basis with your own advisor.

Does Signals cost extra?
Not at this time. You just have to be on the Pro plan.

How is this different from my subscriber engagement score?
The engagement score describes how people interact with your emails. Signals describes who they are. See Subscriber scoring in Kit.

What happens if I downgrade from Pro?
Your Signals data is kept but no longer accessible, and Kit will stop enriching new subscribers.
