The Kit Broadcasts dashboard

Everything you need to know about your Broadcasts dashboard and stats.

The Broadcasts dashboard shows your Broadcasts and their stats in one place.

To access the Broadcasts dashboard, go to Broadcasts under the Send tab in the top navigation.

Here are the dashboard's features:

Broadcasts dashboard

Filter your Broadcasts by statuses like Drafts, Scheduled, and Published:

Click the + New Broadcast button to start a new Broadcast draft.

The search bar at the top lets you search for Broadcasts by their subject line or internal note. Type your keyword(s) into the search bar, and then hit "Enter" or "return" on your keyboard to run the search.

The Export option lets you export a CSV file of the Broadcasts you've sent and/or published to the web. The CSV file download link will be emailed to your Kit account's email address.

The download link will also appear in your in-app notifications center, so you can directly access it without checking your email.

NOTE: The export will contain all sent and/or published Broadcasts:

  • Up to August 2023 if you aren't on the Creator Pro plan

  • In your account—even before August 2023—if you're a Creator Pro user

Next, you'll see a table of your Broadcasts. They are ordered by these dates:

  • The date they were last saved (for draft Broadcasts)

  • Their sent and/or published date (for Broadcasts you've sent and/or published to the web)

  • Their scheduled date (for Broadcasts that have been scheduled but not sent yet)

Here's what the table headings mean:

  • Icon: The icon to the left of the Broadcast's subject line indicates the Broadcast's status.

    • A checkmark icon ✔️ in a circle indicates you've sent and/or published the Broadcast to the web. Hover your cursor over the icon to view the exact send/publish date and time.

    • A cross icon ❌ in a circle indicates that the send was cancelled (for example, if you cancelled an A/B test of your subject lines or content before it could send the second test variant).

    • A document icon 📄 indicates that the Broadcast is a draft. Hover your cursor over the icon to view the date and time you last saved the Broadcast as a draft.

    • A clock icon 🕓 indicates that you've scheduled your Broadcast.

    • A greater-than sign icon (>) indicates you can click the icon to view variants of the Broadcast. Your Broadcast may have variants if you resent your Broadcast to subscribers who didn't open it the first time, or if you conducted an A/B test.

    • A trophy icon 🏆 indicates the winning variant of an A/B test.

  • Subject line: The Broadcast's subject line.

    • If the Broadcast is a draft and a team member is currently editing it, you'll see their profile icon under the subject line.

    • If your Broadcast has an internal note, the internal note will appear below the subject line.

  • Date: The date and time you last saved the Broadcast as a draft, scheduled it, or sent and/or published it, as applicable. Hover your cursor over the date and time to view your last action with the Broadcast at this date and time.

  • Recipients: Your Broadcast's number of recipients

  • Opened: Your Broadcast's number of opens

  • Open rate: Your Broadcast's open rate

  • Clicked: Your Broadcast’s number of recipients who clicked at least one link

  • Click rate: Your Broadcast's click rate

  • Unsubscribed: Your Broadcast's number of unsubscribes

  • Unsub. rate: Your Broadcast's unsubscribe rate

  • Public: Use the Public toggle to publish your Broadcasts to the web or unpublish them

Click the three horizontal dots at the end of each Broadcast's row to take actions with the Broadcast:

  • For sent and/or published Broadcasts, you can duplicate or open them. You can also resend them if you haven't done so.

  • For draft Broadcasts, you can edit, duplicate, or delete them

The table shows 20 Broadcasts at a time. Click the arrows at the bottom right to navigate to the next or previous set of 20 Broadcasts.

Individual Broadcast reports

From the Broadcasts dashboard, click any sent and/or published Broadcast's subject line to view more detailed reports on its content, who it was sent to, who opened it, who clicked your links, and more.

Here are the main features of these reports:

NOTE: While there is no time limit on how long we'll track email data, we no longer update email data for Broadcasts sent before Aug 1, 2023.

Overview

The Overview page lets you review your Broadcast's content and key stats. You'll see different metrics based on whether you've sent this Broadcast as an email, published it to the web, or both.

For a Broadcast you've sent as an email, you'll see these email metrics:

  • The number of recipients

  • Open rate

  • Click rate

  • The number of unsubscribes

  • Bounce rate

  • The net ad revenue earned (after our 23.5% commission)

NOTE: Email metrics won't be available if an A/B test is still running for your Broadcast. This is because your Broadcast hasn't been sent to all your recipients yet.

For a Broadcast you've published to the web, you'll see these web metrics:

  • The number of post visits

  • The conversion rate (i.e., the percentage of users who subscribed to your email list via that post)

Email sent

If you had sent your Broadcast as an email, this section will appear to show the email's sent date and time.

Internal note

This setting shows your Broadcast's internal note. Click the pencil icon to add an internal note to your Broadcast or edit an existing one.

SEO settings

If you've published your Broadcast to the web, update its SEO settings to help new audiences find it more easily. You'll find these settings on your Broadcast report's Overview page.

Click the pencil icon next to the SEO settings to:

  • Add a thumbnail to the Broadcast for your newsletter feed

  • Add alt text to help people using screen readers understand your image

  • Edit your Broadcast's URL slug, which is the last part of the URL that points to your Broadcast. For example, accountdomain.kit.com/posts/your-page-url-goes-here.

  • Update your Broadcast's meta description, which will be visible on the search engine results for your Broadcast, and its social shares

Click Save to save your changes.

Visibility settings

These settings control the Broadcast's visibility if you've published it to the web.

If you haven't published your Broadcast to the web, these settings will have no effect even if you adjust them.

Click the pencil icon in the Visibility settings section to access these settings:

  • Only display for paying subscribers: If you enable this option, users will need to be a paid subscriber of your newsletter product to read the Broadcast. Learn more about setting this up in our guide to paid posts.

  • Set as Featured on Creator Profile: Set this Broadcast as your Creator Profile's featured post.

Use the toggles to enable or disable the relevant setting.

Analytics

The Analytics page gives you a deeper dive into your Broadcast's metrics.

If you ran an A/B test, you'll see the A/B test results at the top.

Email metrics

Next, you'll see an overview of these email metrics:

  • The total number of emails sent

  • The number and percentage of unsubscribes, complaints, and bounces

There's also an engagement funnel showing the percentages of subscribers who received, opened, and clicked links in your Broadcast.

NOTE: Email metrics won't be available if an A/B test is still running for your Broadcast. This is because your Broadcast hasn't been sent to all your recipients yet.

Web metrics

After that, you'll see an overview of these web metrics if you had published your Broadcast to the web:

  • The total number of visits

  • The conversion rate (i.e., the percentage of users who subscribed to your email list via this post)

There's also a chart showing the number of visits to your Broadcast post over time.

Recipients

The Recipients page shows a list of subscribers to whom this Broadcast was sent. You can filter your subscribers by:

  • All: All subscribers to whom the Broadcast was sent

  • Opened: The recipients who opened the Broadcast

  • Clicked: The recipients who clicked at least one link in the Broadcast

  • Unsubscribed: The recipients who unsubscribed using this Broadcast's unsubscribe link

From this page, you can use bulk actions to add (or remove) a Tag or Sequence from these subscribers, or export or delete them.

Clicks

On the Clicks page, you’ll find a list of your Broadcast's links. For each link, you can see:

  • How many subscribers clicked the link

  • The click to delivery rate: The percentage of subscribers who clicked the link out of all the subscribers who received your email. It's calculated using this formula: the number of subscribers who clicked the link / the number of subscribers who received your email x 100%

  • The click to open rate: The percentage of subscribers who clicked the link out of all subscribers who opened your email. It's calculated using this formula: the number of subscribers who clicked the link / the number of subscribers who opened your email x 100%

If you're a Creator Pro plan user, you'll see an Edit option to the right of the link. Click it to change the link—even after your Broadcast has been sent. This feature is useful for fixing broken links.

If you click the link itself, you'll be directed to a page where you can see which subscribers clicked the link.

You can use bulk actions to add (or remove) a Tag or Sequence from these subscribers, or export or delete them.

NOTE: Tagging based on link clicks is a great way of segmenting your subscribers.

More actions

You'll find these actions at the top right of any Broadcast report page.

Public

Enable or disable the Public toggle to publish or unpublish your Broadcast from the web, respectively.

Publishing your Broadcast to the web will cause it to appear in the newsletter feed of your Creator Profile and Landing Pages.

Edit

The Edit button will appear if you've scheduled your Broadcast and it hasn't sent yet. Click the button to edit your Broadcast before it's sent.

When you've finished your edits, schedule your Broadcast to send at its original date and time, a different one, or immediately.

Edit post

Click the Edit post button to edit the version of your Broadcast that's published to the web (not emailed to subscribers).

An Edit post window will appear, where you can edit your Broadcast's post title, contents, and publish date.

Changing your Broadcast's publish date is helpful for situations like migrating your newsletter archive from a different email platform to Kit, where you want your Broadcast to reflect an older date (e.g., the date you originally published the newsletter) than its actual publish date (e.g., the date you published the recreated newsletter in Kit).

This Edit post window will also display your Broadcast's email subject line for your reference, but you won't be able to edit it from here.

NOTE: If you've scheduled your Broadcast and it hasn't sent yet, you can edit your subject line by clicking the Edit button.

Click Save to save your changes.

Open

Click the Open button to open your Broadcast as a webpage.

You can then copy its URL from your browser address bar for sharing with others.

NOTE: If you published your Broadcast to the web, its URL will be the public URL you've set for it. If you haven't, its URL will be its private archive link. Either URL will work for sharing your Broadcast with others.

Duplicate

To copy your Broadcast's content and/or design, click the three vertical dots at the top right of any Broadcast report page > Duplicate.

A duplicate of your Broadcast will be created for you to edit in the Broadcast editor.

Save as template

You can save your Broadcast's content and design as a template for future emails. To do this, click the three vertical dots at the top right of any Broadcast report page > Save as template.

Resend to unopens

Our Resend to unopens feature lets you send your Broadcast again to only the recipients who hadn't opened it the first time around.

Access the feature by clicking the three vertical dots at the top right of any Broadcast report page > Resend to unopens.

Edit categories

Change the Creator Profile categories you've added your Broadcast to by clicking the three vertical dots at the top right of any Broadcast report page > Edit categories.

To create a new category, type its name into the dropdown menu.

Click Save to save your Creator Profile category changes.

And that's it! Our Broadcast reporting provides what you, as a creator, need to know to grow your audience and business.
